Our Story

The Bear Paw was founded in 2013 by chef and proprietor Claire O’Brien, a Greystones native with a lifelong love of food and hospitality. Claire began her journey at just 15 in Le Paysan in Greystones, before fine-tuning her skills at Ballymaloe House and Cookery School, and later with Tom O’Connell in Ballsbridge. Her dream was always simple: a little slice of gourmet heaven she could call her own.

From the very beginning, The Bear Paw has been about honest, homemade food - fresh, wholesome, and full of flavour - served with integrity and value. What started as a single shop has now grown into three Wicklow favourites, thanks to the support of a loyal community and the hard work of an incredible team.

Still rooted in Wicklow, with Claire firmly anchored in Delgany, The Bear Paw is proudly female-founded, community-driven, and dedicated to serving food that makes people feel good.
